 What's Happening Around Town?


Busy Hookers Crochet 
  They meet once weekly at the Garland County Library; which has some very nice facilities for special group gatherings. So that is why every Wednesday in "Room B" - thats where you'll find them - those  fun people!  Some rookies and some real pro's -- they knit, work on special projects, inspire one another with little hints and tips. Of course, more often than not- you'll find some great visiting going on there as well!  Now if this is your cup of tea, the good news is this:
They happily except new members year round!

50 Plus Club:
Hot Springs has a booming and lively bridge group that meets at varied times at our local Elks Club. They graciously envite visitors to come out and take a look around and ask questions, and they are also eager to welcome new member.  If you think you would like to join or just visit, the only reqirement is to contact:

or to inquire of upcoming functions.

The Mini Scaler Group 
      
If you're into Dollhouses and Room Boxes, this is an excellent outlet for that passionate and creative venue. This week for instance they are having a workshop on "Picnic Hampers".  The patterns, skills, and tips that are shared through these hands on workshops are so valuable for those who love this expression of creativity!  Another fun thing they do is schedule viewings of their beautiful handmade creations. Ballroom Dance Lessons
You may not be "Dancing With The Stars"........;
but spend awhile with Joanie and Bob East, and you just might be dancing "Like The Stars"!
Lessons are taught every Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.,
Afterwards enjoy open dancing until 10 p.m.
Learn: Waltz, Swing, Rumba, Fox-trot, and Cha Cha
This is held weekly at the Quapaw Center, 500 Quapaw
Cost is only $5.00 per person,

Spa City Bop & Swing
More dancing fun to light up your evenings and make new friends! The V.F.W meets from 7-11 p.m. on the 2nd, 4th and 5th Friday of every month. Come and dance the night away. The place to be for these dances is 2231 E. Grand Avenue. By the way, these lessons are FREE.

Hot Springs Community Band
If you play an instrument with reasonable proficiency, they encourage you to come out and join the group. This group welcomes both residental and long-term visitors.  Meeting rehearsals are held at the National Park Community College Gymnasium. Breast Cancer Support Group
Most of us know someone, or are related to someone, or ourselves have been or are now afflicted  with this disease. Through support, prayer, fellowship and many wonderful shared ideas of caring for yourself or others ... Oaklawn Lions Club
The Oaklawn Chapter of the Lions Club meets every Friday at Perkins (YUMMY) Restaurant at 6:45 a.m.  Members, guests or visiting Lions are all welcome to come out. For more information regarding joining and such, ask for Jimbo, Billy Joe, or Wanda when you get there!

"Take Off Pounds Sensibly"
